Have you seen this show???? I'd never heard of it before last night. But, I saw a little bit of it and I was shocked!!! Adults go up against 5th graders to answer questions that have all been taken from 5th grade textbooks.
The kids know the answers right away. The adults agonize over them...
If the adult gets the answer right (they don't always).... they win lots of money.
Last night a guy won $100,000 when he knew how many sides a decagon has.....
What's wrong with this picture????

I caught some of this last week, and I was amazed at how much this college grad of about my age was sweating over some easy questions. For instance, his first question was a 1st grade (1st grade!!!) english and spelling question, where he agonized over how many 'E's were in the phrase "Pledge of Allegiance". Besides the fact that he almost blew the first question because he was including the word 'the' in his counting, and the host had to basically help him out so he wouldn't be completely embarrased, he still had trouble and wasn't sure if there were actually 4 'e's in it or not. It took me approximately 2 seconds to come up with the answer.
At the conclusion of this question, the 5th grader helping him practically begged the guy to go with a 5th grade question, but he chickened out and chose the other 1st grade question, which was about science and biology. "Are Walruses native to the arctic?". Come on. He had to use the kid's answer. Did this guy sleep through the first 25 years of his life?
Anyways I flipped off that channel because it was so ludicrous. By the time I flipped back, he was working on the $50,000 question, which was also very easy (what's the biggest bone in the body? We'll it sure wasn't his head), and he had used all his help. The next question I didn't know because it was about the periodic table of the elements, but hey, I was home schooled - and we all know that home schoolers never learn anything about chemistry. Still I was thinking, that would have been the easiest $50,000 I ever made in my life, and I probably would have had 3 cheats to figure out the periodic table question. Man, do they have any openings for contestants?
I was thinking the same thing!! I would love to be on this show!!! I could be wealthy!! But, my mom pointed out that they probably don't take people like me. Seeing as you are eons smarter than me, Dave, you probably wouldnt' be allowed on the show either!!!
