Yes, it goes on and on my friends....
some people started livin' here not knowing where they were...
and they'll continue livin' here forever just because...
this is the winter that never ends....
I really thought it was over... I almost started planting my garden.
but, it snowed again.

What to post???
hmmm...
Well... for some reason I've been feeling pretty stressed out lately. Not sure why unless is has something to do with my job uncertainties, life uncertainties, busy schedules, piles of unfinished work, irritating dog, WINTER!!!, mud everywhere...
I guess it might have something to do with one of those things... or all :-)
Anyway, it's Friday, which is a always a very nice thing. Even when my Saturday is already jam packed crazy, it's still nice to think that this week is almost over.
And tomorrow is always fresh with no mistakes in it.
Yet.

Guess what?
5 more inches of snow and we'll break our record for most snowfall in a winter. 76 inches.

Snow... again!
My brother pointed out to me the other day that our weather so far this winter
is exactly like "The Long Winter" as recorded by Laura Ingalls Wilder.
A snow storm every three days.
I just hope we don't have to resort to spending our days braiding corn husks
to feed the fire, and tunneling out paths to the grocery store.
Being snowed in can be fun, though,
if you have your Netflix
and a new book to read.
Which I do.... :-)

winter
Winter Morning Poem
Ogden Nash
Winter is the king of showmen
Turning tree stumps into snow men
And houses into birthday cakes
And spreading sugar over lakes
Smooth and clean and frosty white
The world looks good enough to bite
That's the season to be young
Catching snowflakes on your tongue
Turning tree stumps into snow men

And houses into birthday cakes

And spreading sugar over lakes

Smooth and clean and frosty white
The world looks good enough to bite
That's the season to be young
Catching snowflakes on your tongue

Snow is snowy when it's snowing
I'm sorry it's slushy when it's going
I'm sorry it's slushy when it's going

Snow Day!
So, what do 7 girls that are snowed-in all day and unable to go out do to keep themselves busy? Play dress up of course! And no, a woman of nearly 5 and 20 years of age is NOT too old to play dress-up!
These 7 girls are of a "literary turn" so of course they're not dressed up like just anybody...
They are....
Miss Georgianna Darcy
Miss Jane Fairfax
Miss Molly Gibson
Miss Jo March

They are....
Miss Georgianna Darcy

Mrs. Bella Harmon and Miss Bella Harmon (aka "The Inexhaustable)

Queen Berengaria
And finally: The Inexhaustable... Exhausted

Springtime in Alaska

I'll be the first person to admit that snow can be beautiful. There is definitely something magical about the first snowfall every year. HOWEVER, the temperature here in Southwest Wisconsin has finally reached above freezing for the first time in... 6 weeks? Anyway, I think spring may be here. Maybe it's just wishful thinking... :-)
But, all day long I've been thinking of a song that my Great Grandpa used to sing. It goes like this:
When it's springtime in Alaska and it's 99 below
The Eskimos go barefoot in the white and drifting snow
The polar bears get sunburned and the seals sing all the day
When it's springtime in Alaska.....
I'll be heading the other way!!!!
