Christa Taylor

Why is there such a lack of fashionable, feminine, MODEST clothing?

Ever felt the frustration?  I think all of us have asked this question at one time or another.  Meet someone who has actually DONE something about it.

Christa-Taylor is an online company devoted to providing cute, fashionable clothes for the modesty-conscious crowd.  :) In her own words "...Feminine and beautiful without compromising self respect and dignity." You can read more about how the company started and all about Christa Taylor HERE.

To start with I want to say that Christa-Taylor is not paying me to talk about her company.  She didn't send me any free products.  Everything I've ordered from Christa-Taylor has been purchased with my own money.  I happen to think that they have a great mission and I think their clothes are cute so I don't mind supporting them one bit! By the way Christa-Taylor donates 5% of every purchase to Warm Blankets Orphan Care International. which is pretty cool.

I've ordered from them several times and every time I've been very pleased with my purchases.  I bought my winter coat from Christa-Taylor, and I wear it EVERYWHERE and get compliments on it all the time.  In fact, just today a random lady I walked by stopped me to tell she loved my coat.

Their shipping is super fast, I always receive my order in two to three days.  Look at these sweet dresses I just bought!

Blue Best Friend Dress
I don't care if it is the middle of winter.  I wore this dress to church last Sunday with tights, a cardigan sweater and boots.  I LOVED it!

Vintage Dot Dress This one, I admit isn't exactly in my color scheme...  But, I don't care.  It's so adorable, I had to get it anyway!

Christa-Taylor also has a BLOG that she updates usually once or twice a week full of fashion and beauty advice that I highly recommend you check out.  Right now she's got an awesome post up about how to shape and maintain your eyebrows.  :) Every girl needs to know how to do this!

I hope you check out Christa-Taylor and find something you like!

Wedding Clothes

We went to a wedding last weekend.
Susie and Joe and I were all matchy-matchy.

Which may or may not have been planned...

I DID buy all of our clothes....

We are so, like totally related.

Dr. Jak's Changing Season Tips

Fall is in the air, whether we like it or not.
I actually love fall. It's one of my favorite seasons! I just don't like that winter comes after fall...
But, let's not talk about that right now :)

Right now, it's still hot during the day! And we can still wear our summer clothes a little longer... actually, a lot longer. We can make our summer clothes transition easily into early fall, with just a few adjustments.

This light sweater is thin enough to wear mid-summer, pair it with capris and it's great for shopping or laying around reading.. or... anything!

For cooler weather add boots and a jacket.

Matching bags are 'in' no matter what the season.

Dr. Jak's Halter Top Solutions

Modesty can be difficult in today's trends.

We want to look cute and feminine and sometimes it is tricky to shop when it seems as if every option being offered to us, is asking us to compromise our convictions.

So, modesty can be difficult, but not impossible!

And, we're up to the challenge aren't we? Of course we are!

Here's a simple solution for a halter top dress I bought on a clearance rack for $15. I paired it with a brown top, with puffy sleeves. Since the layering look is "in" the outfit succeeds in being comfortable, feminine, and modest, while still being trendy!

Dr. Jak's Black and White Facts

The black and white of it is:

No two colors set each other off as well as black and white.
Black and White are also the "formals" on the color wheel.

Any outfit is dressier in these colors.

As a rule, patterns should not be worn together. However, in some cases different patterns worn together can add a fun element!

Dr Jak's Color Wheel 101

Attention class! *peers over spectacles* this is a color wheel. (see below) There are many different types of color schemes using the colors shown in this wheel. For example. Monochromatic, Triad, and Complementary.
Today we're going to talk about the Analogous color scheme. Don't ask me how to pronounce it. :)

Analogous is a color scheme using 3 colors that are next door neighbors on the color wheel. Some examples are Red, Orange and Yellow. Blue, Purple and Violet are also analogous.

A little clue: the root word here is "analogy" which is a word meaning: "A resemblance of relations; an agreement or likeness"

The beauty of an analogous color scheme is it really complements itself. Pick a color. Any color. The two colors directly on it's right and left are it's two closest relatives. Think of it like a family. Brothers and sisters. They look, feel and sound a lot alike. They make each other stronger, by expressing the same opinion or making the same statement, but each with it's own flair.

Here's an Analogous color scheme. Blue, Turquoise, Lime Green.
Any of these colors by itself has a soothing, calm, tranquil feel to it. Makes me think of oceans and salt spray and summer. Put the three together and it's like adding a little cinnamon to your coffee. Warm and vigorous, but more so.
Add a hat in a coordinating color, if you didn't have time to blow dry your hair and then slept on it....
And coordinate your jewelry to punch the analogy even more. :)

Today...

I would love very much to show you pictures of my first ever gardening project!

Alas, the camera isn't here *sigh*

Ah Well...

tomorrow.

On another note, I've started Pilates and I'm really enjoying them so far! I'll be in shape before you know it! (Maybe)

I've been working on the same sewing project for weeks (maybe months) now, and I'm down to the very last step, sewing in the hook and eye, so hopefully, I'll be able to share pictures of that soon, also.

How did you all like Dr. Jak's Fashion post I did a couple of weeks ago? I'm going to try to make that a regular thing on this blog and also over on the IDD BLOG as well.
Ok.

I hope you all have a wonderful, wonderful day!
