That I LOVE Charles Dickens?
I recently re-read Nicholas Nickleby. Which you already know if you read my June book list.
I'm re-re-reading it this morning. Parts of it.
And I do love Charles Dickens. Everyone should read Dickens.
His novels are long (Nickleby is 700+ pages) But totally worth it.
I'm interested to know who out there reading my blog has read Dickens. If so, which novels and which are your favorite?

I've probably read NN the most but OMF and TTC are my favs
I haven't read any of the Dickens but I'm in the middle of the move OMF. I like it so far. I'll have to try one out some time(the books). I've heard they were sort of depressing. What do you say?
Dickens is incredible! I haven't read all his books yet, but I love the ones I have. I'm ~600 pages through Little Dorrit right now. So good! :)
Kayla Dickens chose to write about some bad things that were happening in England at that time. So, yes, there are some dark and sad themes in his books. I know some people find that depressing. Personally, it makes me love him as an author all the more.
Only A Christmas Carol so far! But I plan to read more. What do you recommend that I read first (Little Dorrit is high on the list because I want to see the most recent adaptation)

Oliver Twist (Personally, I think if it wasn't written by C.D. it would be an awful book)

I have a lovely matching set of the complete Dickens that I found in a 2nd hand bookshop and couldn't resist...
Dickens is excellent! I love Littleorrit and Bleak House, both of which have been made into two good BBC adaptions.

I've only read A Tale of Two Cities but I LOVED it. Someday, when I'm not already being assigned huge novels for college, I'll read more Dickens.
I've read almost all of his Christmas works--I love A Christmas Carol. I could never figure out why there are soooo many film adaptations of it until I read the book. Oh, the chills I had while reading of Marley coming up the stairs! Terrifying!
I've also read Bleak House and Nicholas Nickleby. I've just started Pickwick Papers. It was only a year or so ago that I read Dickens for the first time, and I felt jipped. Where had he been my whole life? Oh, I love Dickens!

Not sure if this counts but I’ve watched the TV versions of various Dickens too. There was a great TV version of Bleak House here in the UK on BBC.
I've never read Nicholas Nickleby though. Would that be a good place to start my Dickens journey?

It's funny that you should have this post right now, because I happen to be going through a Dickens frenzy myself! But sadly, it took me about 6 months to get through LD because I had a whole bunch of college books to read. :(
So now, after watching almost all of the new LD miniseries (gotta finish it tonight! so excited!), I'm trying to read BH so I can see the miniseries. Ribbons of Light blogspot's Elise is also going through a Dickens frenzy (another coincidence!), and she's going through Our Mutual Friend and likes it. So now, I've got that one to read very soon!
Being more of a Jane Austen a.k.a. lighthearted stories person, this is certainly a different writing style for me, but a welcome one nonetheless. Both Austen & Dickens have the hypocritical and hilarious character mixes, which are always fun and interesting. My first 3 Dickens novels I read a couple of years back, and never really got into him too much, but now I'm appreciating him more, which is good. I can't say he's a favorite author (yet), but he's certainly higher on my faves list than before! :D

I've read, The Tail of Two Cities and Oliver Twist. But I prefer Mark Twian, over Dickens.
