The Disappearance...

No, I didn't write this story. I found it online, it was authored by a homeschool student, and I thought it was pretty funny. It's a short story, maybe 10 pages, but it's worth being checked out.

"I reassured them, saying that in my experience at least fifty percent of kidnapped persons were found, and that many of these were found alive." Hmm, how very reasuring!

"I didn’t fail to note that the woman’s mechanical knowledge was above average – she knew what a muffler did." Ah, how very true!

"Mr. Price and I had an excellent discussion of the War Between the States" Hmm. Any one else catch that? "War between the States"? That's an expression used by modern day Confenderate sympathizers who believe that the South was justified in the attempt to seperate the union.

"I contemplated throwing myself off a bridge, writing a country song . . ." That is funny.
And I like the book-end ending, finishing where he started; revealing how easily his heart mends. Haha.

Dear old "James P. Miner: Detective" 6 foot something and eater of pies. I remember Miner, I always felt sorry for him, maybe the new girl will work out for him. Who ever wrote that story, has a GREAT sense of humor!
