America's "Day Off"

"Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country. "

It's too bad that all the working class doesn't have Labor Day off. Labor Day has become a day to shop, which excludes retail shop employees from enjoying the day.

Personally, I prefer to spend Labor Day in pursuit of some project. Scrapbooking, Sewing, Cooking. The sort of things that I always want to do and wish I was doing, but can't find the time for. For me, that really is a "day off."

How do you spend Labor Day?

How do I spend Labor Day? Doing school, working for Dad...it's no different from any other day, except that we don't get mail.

I was thinking the same thing today. Whatever happened to people actually letting everyone take the day off and go on a picnic or something? It's bad enough on Labor Day, it's just disgusting when you get around to Thanksgiving, or Christmas...
