Becca - I read a very interesting book this weekend and thought of you. "The Shack." Have you read it? I think you would be blessed. Parts at the beginning are somewhat unsettling, but I stuck with it and found it very insightful. It is a fast read.
Miss Alice I have not read the Shack, but I've had several people recommend it to me. I've probably had just as many people tell me they didn't like it. Sounds controversial...
I can see why it is controversial. It certainly presents God in an unconventional manner. When I first realized that, all my red caution flags went up. I kept looking for a betrayal of the truth.....and kept not finding it. Instead, I was reminded of things about who God is that I had forgotten, and that I need to remember. Sometimes "controversial" Christian things should be avoided because they are detrimental to the soul. Even if you disagree with the author's representation of God, it won't lodge any unclean or detrimental images into your brain, so I say GO FOR IT and see what you think. You may not like it, but then again a daring book like The Shack might be a good part of a daring adventure.
